The Leisured Class

Carter has wasted no time making himself at home...really at home. He clearly thinks that he should be the baby.

Jeff came home to find him sleeping in Adele's bouncy seat.

And here he is in the "moses" basket on top of all her clean blankets.

I imagine he's working his way to her crib next!

A fun visit!

Yesterday Adele's aunt and energetic cousins came to visit. They were treated to hikes and an "obstacle course" through the scaffolding by their uncle Jeff.

Lots of Adele!

We've taken lots of pictures of Adele over the last few weeks. I thought I would share.

Bath Time

Bottle Time

Nap Time. Just in case you can't read the tag on her outfit, it says "Daddy's Little Girl" ... No Kidding!

When she had her cold, we propped her up to sleep to help with her congestion. For some reason, her hands ended up in the air. Must have been comfortable...she slept that way for a while!
Just being cute

Welcome home Carter!

After losing Milton, our other cat Charlie seemed, well, lost. He would sit at the french doors all night long just looking out. How do I know? Because Adele and I are up in the middle of the night!

Last Sunday, Adele and I went to the Clear Creek Animal Shelter called Charlie's Place. It is a lovely shelter and the animals all seem very well cared for. We met Carter while we were there and decided to seriously consider adopting him. On Thursday evening, Jeff went and got him and brought him home. Initially, there was lots of hissing from Charlie, but 24 hours later, they were friends. They enjoy chasing each other around the house and take turns ambushing each other behind the curtains.

Here he is playing with Jeff's paintbrush.

We are so pleased as how well he is adapting to his new home. He has a very squeaky meow and he loves to get attention. We figure he is maybe a year old.

We'll Miss you Milton

We lost our sweet tabby cat today to kidney failure. We miss him so much already. We're both in a daze. We didn't see this coming; he deteriorated very quickly. I don't think he suffered too much.

Milton was a sweetheart. He was a cat who always had an agenda, whether it was sneaking onto the counter, ambushing our other cat Charlie, or trying to wet his paws in the toilet (!), he was often up to something. He loved to lay in the sun, and we often joked that he was going to spontaneously combust someday he would get so hot.

We adopted Milton almost 2 years ago as an older cat from the Boulder County Humane Society. We often thought that life had been hard for him and that he had medical problems. We gave him lots of love and attention during the last two years.

I think that Milton left us too soon, and I really feel bad for our other cat Charlie who loved to play with him. I hope that Milton is enjoying the good life on the other side!

Happy Valentine's Day

Yesterday was Adele's first Valentine's day. She dressed up for the occasion.

Last week little Adele was sick for the first time with a cough. It was so hard to see her not feeling good. Poor little thing. She seems very healthy again (knock on wood). Now I have a cough and Jeff has something as well. I guess this is kind of the way it goes for the next decade!

Happy Three-Month Birthday Adele!

Adele is three months old today. I swear, she seems bigger and older today than yesterday! I took her to my office today for a short visit to meet my colleagues. She seemed to enjoy all the attention. I must admit, it was a bit strange to move my files out of the way on my desk and use it as a changing table; it was like the collision of two worlds!! (Yes, I used a changing pad!).

A big Thank You to Kathleen for taking these wonderful pictures of Adele during our visit.
