12 weeks. Where did they go?

Adele was 12 weeks old last Thursday and my time is up; I go back to work tomorrow. It has been a fun 12 weeks with her and I know I'm going to miss her. She has already been going to daycare a couple mornings a week to get us used to it, but now she goes Monday - Thursday. The wonderful teachers in the infant room seem to really like her and she has been doing well there, but still......

Here she is on her playmat. The little toy on the left plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and she loves it.
Here she is napping in the lap of luxery. Don't worry, she doesn't sleep on pillows unless she is next to me.
Look at those round cheeks and chin. Amazing to think how different she looks compared to 12 weeks ago (below).

Busy Week

It has been a busy week! We have been preparing the main part of the house for stain. We skipped over staining the logs way back when and we wanted to get it done. We're using a sprayer for the job, so every wood surface has to be vacuumed and cleaned. It was a lot of work, and we had help.

Here Chris is vacuuming. He vacuumed every inch of the house and it was a huge job. Thank you Chris!
Here my dad and I are preparing the south wall.

My niece even got into the spirit and did her part too

There was also some sanding and woodfiling involved too. Next we have to cover up all the surfaces we don't want stained and then look out!

Adele's First Party!

Adele had two milestones last night: she went to her first party and she wore her first real outfit (instead of pajamas!). Mother and daughter were both traumatized by actually pulling clothing on over her head, but we survived.

Here she is with uncle Steve

Enjoying a bottle with her cousin

Being held by her other cousin and admired by a couple of neighbor kids. Okay, well, maybe they weren't actually admiring her, but all the kids sure seemed interested in her and wanted to touch her. So cute!

Snowsuit and Smiles

Adele took her first trip to Babies R Us the other day. She got some new outfits and a crib. She got this snowsuit so she can go out on cold days in the Baby Bjorn carrier. It is sized 3-6 months and just a bit big right now! But, it works. Just wait, in a few short weeks, I'll be posting a picture in this snowsuit and it will be tight! She is just over 11 pounds right now, or double her birthweight.

We are getting lots of smiles and coos these days. Here she is "talking" to daddy in one of her new outfits!

Adele pictures

I have gotten so far behind on this blog! Life has been very busy. Adele continues to grow and thrive.

Here is a "family portrait" taken a few days before Christmas. Even Charlie and Milton got into the picture.

This is Adele on Christmas Eve. That outfit doesn't fit her anymore!

Here she is today. We tried going for a walk for the first time with the Baby Bjorn carrier. I put her in two pairs of pajamas and then put my coat on over the top. She seemed to like it and fell asleep before we were at the end of the driveway. I guess the walk wore her out! She slept like that laying on part of the carrier for two hours. She was 9 weeks old yesterday and she is now slightly over 10 pounds.

In other news, Jeff was driving down I-25 today when the woman in front of him suddenly slammed on the brakes because there was a police office taking radar on the side of the road. Jeff had to slam on his brakes and then got around her. Well, he actually got pulled over for following too close because the woman slammed on her brakes and he ended up....well... too close. He explained it to the officer, but he got a ticket anyway. About 15 minutes later, the officer called our house looking for Jeff and wanted his cell phone number. Turns out he conferred with the officer taking radar who confirmed the story and they voided his ticket. Have you ever heard of such a thing? We figure it is his lucky day. Come on Lotto!

Putting grandparents to work

My parents came up to see Adele last weekend and well, we put them to work. Here Jeff and my dad are sheathing our fireplace. All of this will be covered by rock someday.
